Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, is experiencing persistent rain and gusty winds expected to cause travel disruption through 10 February 2026. The Met Office forecast for Royal Tunbridge Wells shows persistent showers with wind gusts of up to about 29 mph in places, increasing the risk of difficult road conditions and surface water flooding.
Drivers and train passengers are being advised to prepare for delays on key routes such as the A21 and A26. With the ground already saturated following a very wet January, Kent County Council highways teams are monitoring low‑lying locations and drainage points for potential surface‑water flooding.
On the railway, South Eastern Railway is trialling flood‑warning camera technology at several high‑risk sites, including Wadhurst. The solar‑powered camera systems provide live visual monitoring of track and drainage conditions so staff can spot rising water early and make faster, more informed decisions to reduce the risk of long cancellations on services toward London and Hastings.
Pedestrians in the town centre are also warned to take care: Tunbridge Wells’ steep hills can funnel overland flow quickly into low points and shopping areas such as The Pantiles. Residents are being advised that outdoor plans may be disrupted while the wet weather continues through the early part of the week.
