Quarry Road in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, will be closed to all through-traffic for nine days starting Saturday 14 February 2026 while crews carry out essential electrical works. The work is being managed by Kent County Council Highways (KCC Highways) in coordination with regional utility providers and is scheduled for completion by 18:00 on 22 February 2026.

UK Power Networks is the contracted utility carrying out high-voltage cable replacement and substation maintenance along Quarry Road. The project has been timed to coincide with the February school half-term to minimise disruption to school runs and peak commuter traffic.

Through traffic will be diverted via Camden Road, Victoria Road and Lansdowne Road while Quarry Road is closed; access for residents will be maintained ‘where safe.’ Residents of the street should expect suspension of on-street parking for the duration of the works.

These upgrades are needed to increase local grid capacity to serve rising demand associated with recent planning activity in the area. According to Kent Online, planning applications have been submitted (reported July 20, 2023) to convert some former business units on Quarry Road into flats; the Kent Online item describes a proposed conversion rather than completed works.
