Residents across West Kent are invited to take part in the Hospice in the Weald’s Moonlight Walk on Saturday 27 June 2026 to raise money for local end‑of‑life care. The night‑time, sponsored walk is the charity’s flagship community fundraising event and helps fund medical, nursing and emotional support for patients with terminal illnesses and their families.

The Moonlight Walk 2026 is listed on the hospice’s events page for Saturday 27 June at Sevenoaks Rugby Club. Participants can choose 4‑, 8‑ or 13‑mile routes and the event traditionally takes place after dusk. The 2026 theme is “Sparkle and Shine,” and walkers are encouraged to wear neon clothing and glowing accessories.

The event is particularly important because statutory funding from government and the NHS covers only a small proportion of the hospice’s costs (historically in the low teens percentage range), so Hospice in the Weald must raise around £8 million each year through fundraising and donations to keep its services free. Lou Wardle, Head of Fundraising, has said the money helps support new and expanding services such as the Children’s Service and the “Living Well” programme, which have seen increased demand.

The charity is registered with the Charity Commission (charity number 280276) and relies on the support of volunteers and local community groups. Hospice in the Weald works with partner organisations and community pages such as Visit Tunbridge Wells to promote events; the hospice’s own information states it has over 1,000 volunteers helping across services and departments. People can sign up via the hospice’s event/registration pages (and associated platforms such as Enthuse or JustGiving), usually by paying a registration fee and seeking sponsorship from friends and family to reach their fundraising targets.
