David Olusoga, the well-known television historian and author, will bring his new live show to the Assembly Hall Theatre in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, on 14 April 2026. The show, titled A Gun Through Time, will examine the history of four firearms and the impact they have had on British society and ancestors over the centuries.

Olusoga is a Professor of Public History at the University of Manchester and a BAFTA-winning filmmaker. Local audiences may recognise him from his television series including A House Through Time and Black and British: A Forgotten History, or from his appearance as a finalist in the 2025 series of Celebrity Traitors.

The presentation focuses on the social history behind the Thompson Sub-Machine Gun, the Maxim Gun, the Brown Bess flintlock musket, and the Lee-Enfield rifle. This event is part of a larger tour of the United Kingdom which includes 12 different venues through to October 2026.

The performance begins at 7.30pm and is expected to last approximately one hour and 50 minutes. The theatre has recommended the show for residents aged 12 and over.

Tickets for the show are available now, with prices starting from £34.25 and going up to £49.25 for certain seating areas. Group discounts are also being offered for the performance at the venue on Crescent Road.
