Local artists and small businesses across the Swale borough can now apply for workspace at the Makers Studios at Masters House in Sheerness. As of January 2026, Swale Borough Council says the project is moving into its final/operational phase and will offer professional facilities to residents across Swale, including those in Sittingbourne and the Isle of Sheppey.

The development features three purpose-built workshops—often called makers huts—created from disused council garage space at the rear of Masters House on Trinity Road. These spaces will be managed by the charity Launch It (operating locally as Launch It Kent), which supports aspiring entrepreneurs aged 18–30 with mentorship, training and business support.

The Makers Studios form the final phase of the creative-hub element of the £20 million Sheerness Revival programme, funded by the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund. The wider programme also includes improvements to the Beachfields healthy living centre (health hub) and an extension to Sheppey College. The studios are being fitted with essential facilities such as a kitchenette and toilet provision and business-ready connectivity to support small-scale manufacturing and craft enterprises.

Masters House is a former Victorian council district office on Trinity Road that was sustainably refurbished in recent years. By offering subsidised/affordable workspace and on-site enterprise support, Swale Borough Council and Launch It intend the Makers Studios to be a stepping stone for local residents across the borough to start and grow sustainable creative businesses.
