A man in his 50s has died following a collision between a car and a lorry on Swale Way in Sittingbourne, Kent, on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.

The incident happened at around 10:10 AM on the Milton Creek Bridge when a red Ford Fusion travelling northwest moved into the path of a white Mercedes lorry coming the other way. Medics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and an air ambulance attended the scene, but the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the bridge.

Police officers closed the road in both directions between the Ridham Avenue roundabout and Castle Road for the rest of the day, leading to long delays for drivers in the Kemsley area. Kent County Council Highways confirmed that the route was fully reopened to traffic by the morning of Thursday, 26 February 2026.

The Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit is now investigating the cause of the crash. Officers have asked for any witnesses or people with dashcam footage to come forward to help them understand why the car crossed the road.
