Residents in Sittingbourne are preparing for the return of the town’s annual carnival, with the parade set to take place on Sunday 30 August 2026. The event, which highlights local heritage and community spirit, is currently accepting entries from those who wish to join the festivities.

Organised by the Sittingbourne and District Carnival and Court Association, the carnival is a non-profit effort designed to showcase local talent. The association, led by organiser Kelly Kay, manages the parade and the traditional carnival court, which this year includes 15-year-old Emilia, who has been crowned Miss Sittingbourne 2026.

The parade route remains a central feature of the day, beginning at Vicarage Road in Milton Regis. From there, it will travel through Milton High Street, Crown Road, Chalkwell Road, and the A2 London Road, before continuing through West Street and finishing on Sittingbourne High Street.

The carnival has deep roots in the town, with history dating back to 1893. Following a five-year hiatus that began in 2019, the tradition resumed in August 2024. That successful return was supported by a 5,000 pound grant from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, which was secured through the Swale Borough Council Town Action Grant programme.

Organisers are encouraging community members to get involved in the parade as the town looks forward to continuing this long-standing local tradition.
