A new £25 million health facility has opened in Slough, Berkshire, to help local people get medical tests much faster. The Slough Community Diagnostic Centre officially opened in early March 2026 to provide essential health checks closer to home.
The Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust runs the new centre, which is built to carry out up to 150,000 extra tests every year. Residents can visit the site for a wide range of services, including X-rays, MRI scans, CT scans, ultrasounds, lung function tests, and blood work.
By opening seven days a week, the facility aims to cut down waiting times for patients across the region. It is also designed to take the pressure off busy local hospitals like Wexham Park by moving routine testing into the heart of the community.
Local residents, faith groups, and community organisations helped shape the design and planning of the building. Lance McCarthy, the Chief Executive of the health trust, said the centre will play a major part in making sure everyone in the area has fair access to modern healthcare.
The Slough CVS has also supported the project by helping to connect these new health services with the local community. Dr Nick Broughton, an NHS Chief Executive, noted that the opening is a key step in changing how local care is delivered to residents.
