On 27 February 2026, the Slough Council for Voluntary Service thanked a team of local volunteers for repainting and refreshing their community offices in Slough, Berkshire. The project aimed to create a more welcoming environment for the hundreds of local groups that use the space at 27 Church Street.
Julie Humphrey, the Partnership Manager at the Slough Business Community Partnership, led the group of volunteers from IRIS Software Group. The team worked to revitalise the downstairs facilities, which serve as a central meeting point for more than 500 local charities and community groups across the borough.
By using volunteers from the software company, which is based at 470 London Road, the charity was able to update its facilities without the high costs of a professional decorating service. This allows more of the organisation’s funding to be directed toward frontline support for the community rather than on building maintenance.
The updated office space is expected to provide a more professional and comfortable setting for residents who attend sessions at the hub. The organisation has supported the local community for over 90 years by providing essential training, funding advice, and shared meeting rooms for small local groups.
