On February 13, 2026, Slough Borough Council hosted a free online training session for local sports clubs and youth groups in Slough, Berkshire, to help keep children safe online.
The session, which took place from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, focused on the safe use of social media and the internet within local sports teams. It was led by Active Slough, the council team that works to make sure everyone involved in local physical activity is protected from harm.
Club organisers and volunteers were given practical tips on how to manage group chats and set healthy boundaries on social media. The event supported the national ‘Smart tech, safe choices’ project led by the UK Safer Internet Centre, which marked a special day of action on February 10, 2026.
This training is part of a plan to help local clubs update their safety practices to handle new risks from modern technology. By taking part, local sports leaders can better protect young athletes and ensure their teams meet the latest safety standards for the community.
