The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old girl sustained serious injuries in a collision in Southampton on Saturday, 9 May 2026.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 pm on a footpath in the Tanner’s Brook area, near Lords Hill Way. According to the police, the teenager was sitting on the handlebars of a bike when it struck a tree branch. She suffered a fractured jaw, a laceration to her forehead, and damage to her teeth during the collision.

Officers reported that the bike, which is believed to have been an e-bike, was removed from the scene before they arrived. He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has dashcam footage of the bike being ridden in the area, to come forward. Information can be provided by calling 101 or by contacting the force online, quoting reference number 44260218038.
