Residents in Southampton planning outdoor activities for the upcoming bank holiday weekend should prepare for a change in weather as the current warm spell comes to an end. According to the Met Office, the city will see a shift from sunny conditions to a more unsettled, wetter period between Saturday 2 May and Monday 4 May 2026.

While temperatures are expected to reach highs of 21°C on Friday 1 May, the weather will turn cooler and more changeable as the weekend begins. Saturday 2 May will start with light rain, with the chance of precipitation increasing from 30% at midday to 80% by 11pm. Daytime temperatures on Saturday are expected to peak at 19°C.

The unsettled conditions are set to continue into Sunday 3 May, with a 60% chance of light rain early in the morning and generally overcast conditions throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to reach 18°C. By Monday 4 May, the weather should become slightly brighter with sunny intervals, though there remains a 30% chance of showers at 11am and a maximum temperature of 17°C.

Residents are advised to check the latest forecasts before heading out as plans for the long weekend may need to be adjusted for the wet weather.
