Southampton residents can look forward to a brief period of warmer weather this week, with temperatures set to rise above the seasonal average before cooling down again by the start of next week. According to the Met Office, the city will experience a gradual warming trend leading up to a peak of 21°C this Saturday, 9 May 2026.

Following a cloudy Wednesday, conditions are set to improve on Thursday, 7 May, with sunny intervals and a high of 16°C. Friday, 8 May, is expected to reach 18°C with further sunny intervals, providing a pleasant lead-up to the weekend. Saturday’s forecast of 21°C is approximately 3°C higher than the long-term May average maximum of 18.02°C for the area, as noted by Met Office climate data.

While Saturday is expected to be the warmest day, the weather will become increasingly cloudy from 10am onwards, with a 40% chance of rain in the afternoon. Residents should be prepared for this chance of rain to potentially peak at 50% around 4pm. Sunday, 10 May, will bring cooler temperatures of 19°C and further cloudy conditions.

The new week will see a notable drop in temperature, with Monday, 11 May, reaching a high of only 15°C. The day will remain cloudy, and wind gusts of up to 25mph may make conditions feel closer to 12°C. Allergy sufferers will be pleased to know that pollen levels are forecast to remain low throughout the entire period ending on Tuesday, 12 May.

There are currently no flood warnings in place for the Southampton area. According to the Environment Agency, the overall flood risk across England is considered very low for the next four days.
