The Big Up Southend makers market is returning to the Victoria Shopping Centre in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, on 7 March 2026. This monthly event is set to take place on the first floor from 11am to 4pm to celebrate the local creative community.
The market usually features around 30 different stalls where people can buy handmade crafts, jewellery, and artwork. It offers a chance for residents to support small businesses and independent makers who live and work in the city.
This weekend’s event is part of the wider Southend City Day celebrations which focus on community pride. Visitors can enjoy live music and an open mic session alongside their shopping, with various creative activities available for families.
The market is run through a partnership between the Show Up! Southend arts group and the Indirock climbing centre. Since the local council bought the shopping centre in 2020, it has become a hub for community projects like this one.
The Design Cabin Community C.I.C. also helps organise the event to provide a low-cost space for local entrepreneurs. This regular market has become an important part of the city centre since it first launched in 2023.
