Detectives are appealing for information after a man in his 40s was attacked by a group of men in Leigh-on-Sea on the evening of Saturday 9 May 2026. The victim suffered a stab wound to his lower leg during the incident and has since received hospital treatment.

According to Essex Police, the victim reported being approached by a group of men inside The Elms pub on London Road. The group reportedly followed him to his car nearby, close to the junction with Blenheim Crescent, where the attack occurred at approximately 11:45pm.

Police have released a description of one of the suspects, who is described as a white man with brown hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit at the time of the incident.

The assault took place during a weekend when authorities had implemented a dispersal order across Southend city centre and the seafront. That order, which ran from 21:30 on Friday 8 May until 21:30 on Sunday 10 May, was put in place to manage reports of anti-social behaviour and large gatherings of young people.

Officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has relevant CCTV or dash cam footage, to come forward. Information can be shared with the police by quoting reference 42/71847/26. Details can also be submitted through the official police website, their online live chat service, or anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
