Southend-on-Sea Fans Enjoy Big Five Goal Win Over Morecambe

Southend United secured a dominant 5-1 victory against Morecambe at Roots Hall in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, on February 14, 2026. This significant home win strengthens the team’s position in the play-off race and leaves the visiting side in 23rd place in the league table.

Gus Scott-Morriss opened the scoring for Southend United in the 22nd minute, followed by a goal from defender Harry Boyes ten minutes later. Andrew Dallas and Josh Walker added more goals in the second half, before Tom Hopper scored the final goal deep into stoppage time.

Mo Sangare scored the only goal for Morecambe in the 58th minute. Manager Kevin Maher described the team’s performance as outstanding and said it was important for the players to deliver a strong result for the fans after a few difficult matches away from home.

The club made four changes to the starting line-up for the game, which was played in front of a large crowd. The victory helps maintain the team’s momentum at Roots Hall, where the club is currently averaging more than 8,200 supporters per match.
