Detectives from Essex Police have charged a third man following an attempted burglary at a jewellery shop in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The incident happened on 16 February 2026 on Weston Road and was stopped after local residents and street rangers raised the alarm.

Adam Khan, 27, of Outmore Road, Birmingham, was charged with attempted burglary and violent disorder. This followed a cross-county investigation by the Southend CID to find those involved in the crime after the suspect was located in Birmingham on 4 March 2026.

Officers had already arrested two other Birmingham men, Leon Roper, 47, and Nathaniel White, 39, on the day of the break-in. Their vehicle was stopped by police on the M1 in Bedfordshire after a coordinated effort between different regional forces.

While significant damage was caused to the shop and two nearby cars, the fast response from the public meant that no goods were stolen. All three suspects are currently in custody waiting for their upcoming court hearings.
