Life Leisure has introduced a new, expanded timetable of fitness classes for children across its eight centres in Stockport. The update, which launched on 5 May 2026, aims to provide more opportunities for children aged 5 to 12 to stay active through a variety of movement and sports sessions.
The new programme includes Junior R1G classes at Romiley and Hazel Grove, offering children aged 8 to 12 a chance to take part in full-body gym workouts. Additionally, the Family R1G programme has been extended to Grand Central and Houldsworth Village, building on its previous success at the Hazel Grove location.
Younger residents can now also participate in specific fitness and sports options, including Junior Strength training for ages 8 to 12, designed to introduce weight-based exercise in a controlled and age-appropriate environment. At Houldsworth Village, which houses the area’s first indoor Padel court, the centre has added Junior Padel and HYROX Youngstars sessions. These classes allow children to experience the popular fitness race training in a dedicated zone, supported by the organisation’s status as an official HYROX365 partner.
Other additions include new Summer Sports and Ball Sports sessions aimed at children aged 5 to 12. These updates are part of the broader operations managed by Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council through Stockport Active CIC. The service contract between the local authority and the leisure provider is set to continue until 31 March 2027.
Families can choose from over 50 classes each week. Junior memberships are available from £17.50 per month, which includes access to classes, public swimming, and discounts on birthday parties. Families also have the option to add a junior membership to an adult plan.
