Residents in Stockport have new opportunities to enjoy local street food and live entertainment this summer as Stockport Council continues a series of popular market events in the town centre.

The award-winning Foodie Friday event is returning to the Market Place on 29 May and 26 June 2026. Taking place from 6pm to 9pm, the event showcases a variety of street food traders, including I Knead Pizza, Nasi Lemak, and Halloumination, alongside craft ales and live music performances. Organised by John Barratt, the event has been a regular fixture on the last Friday of each month since winning the Best Pop-Up, Event, Club or Project award at the 2016 Manchester Food & Drink Festival.

In addition, the Asian Food Night Market will return to St Mary’s Church on 12 June and 10 July 2026. Running from 5pm to 10pm, this event offers residents authentic Asian cuisine and street food within the setting of the 700-year-old building. The market is managed by EatGoodWestUK, which also coordinates local cultural celebrations such as the Lunar New Year festival, and will take place on the second Friday of each month.

Both food events are free to attend and form part of the ongoing efforts to revitalise the area. These markets are a central component of the broader £1 billion town centre regeneration programme. The project includes a £7 million investment from the council and the National Lottery Heritage Fund aimed at restoring historic buildings and creating new public spaces to support the community.
