Stockport Council launched its annual borough-wide spring clean campaign on Friday 20 March 2026 at the newest park in Stockport, Greater Manchester, to encourage residents to help keep their local areas tidy. The initiative, which will run throughout the spring season, aims to support the work of volunteers and community groups who look after the borough parks and streets.

The Totally Local Company is helping with the project by clearing away graffiti and picking up litter. Their teams are also cleaning out roadside drains and teaching business owners about the right way to get rid of food waste to reduce the amount of rubbish left on the streets.

According to Stockport Council, the work supports a new plan to create better green spaces for people of all ages. This project moves forward while the council manages a budget that needs £8.037 million in savings, though £4.4 million is still being spent on park maintenance.

The Stockport Labour Group has criticised the council for not issuing enough fines to people who dump rubbish. In response, Councillor Grace Baynham explained that the campaign focuses on helping residents feel proud of where they live by working together to improve the community.
