Residents in Stockport are being advised to prepare for wet and windy weather this weekend as Storm Dave reaches the region. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind in Greater Manchester, which is in force from 5pm on Saturday, 4 April, until 7am on Sunday, 5 April.

Storm Dave, the fourth named storm of the 2025/26 season, is expected to bring overcast conditions to Stockport today, with wind gusts reaching up to 48mph during the afternoon and evening. The adverse weather conditions may lead to travel delays on road and rail services, and there is a possibility of power cuts or damage to buildings, such as roof tiles being dislodged by strong gusts.

To ensure personal and property safety, the Met Office recommends that residents secure loose outdoor items, including garden furniture, bins, ladders, and trampolines, before the strongest winds arrive. Drivers are also urged to take extra care, as the RAC has warned that travel conditions across the north and west of the UK will be particularly challenging throughout the storm.

Conditions are forecast to improve by Easter Sunday, 5 April, as the wind begins to ease with gusts dropping to 38mph. While the day will see sunny intervals, it will feel colder, with temperatures reaching 10°C but feeling closer to 5°C. Following the weekend, the weather is set to turn warmer and more settled, with temperatures expected to climb to 19°C by Tuesday, 7 April.
