The Sunderland Aquatic Centre in Stadium Park, Tyne and Wear, has announced updated opening times for the upcoming Easter bank holiday weekend. Between 3 April and 6 April 2026, the facility will operate on a reduced timetable across all its main departments. These changes will affect the swimming pools, the fitness gym, and the children’s soft play area.

On Good Friday, 3 April 2026, the centre will close early with the last entry for visitors allowed at 4pm. The doors will be open from 6am to 6pm on Saturday 4 April, while Sunday 5 April will see the hours restricted to 8am until 5pm. The holiday weekend concludes with another early closure at 4pm on Easter Monday, 6 April 2026.

The facility is managed by Everyone Active and stands as the only full Olympic-standard swimming pool in North East England. It features a 50m main pool that can be split into two sections, a dedicated diving pool with multiple boards, and a gym with 140 stations. Families using the indoor soft play area for children aged eight and under are also encouraged to check these times before travelling.

The centre first opened in April 2008 and serves as a major fitness hub for the local community next to the Stadium of Light. Residents who have questions about the holiday hours or specific activities can contact the reception desk directly on 0191 514 4300.
