A 40-year-old man from Drakelow has been sentenced to five years in prison after a lengthy investigation into his drug dealing activities across South Derbyshire, Staffordshire, and Leicestershire. Christopher Dixon was sentenced at Derby Crown Court on 24 April 2026 after pleading guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a private place.
The investigation into Dixon began on 29 January 2024, when officers stopped his vehicle in Marley Way, Drakelow. During the stop, police discovered items used to hide drugs and large amounts of cash. A further search at St Mary’s Wharf Police Station uncovered nine wraps of cocaine hidden in his underwear.
In January 2026, officers from the Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team executed a search warrant at a storage unit in Swadlincote linked to Dixon. They discovered cocaine worth £12,000 inside a lock box, along with a zombie knife and a zombie machete. Dixon fled the area following the raid but was later tracked to a hotel in Lichfield, Staffordshire, where he was arrested.
Financial records obtained during the inquiry revealed that approximately £300,000 had passed through accounts belonging to Dixon and an associate, despite neither having legitimate employment and both claiming benefits. PC Alexander Boniface, who led the investigation for Derbyshire Constabulary, stated that Dixon operated his criminal enterprise through fear and arrogance, while using the proceeds to fund expensive vehicles, foreign holidays, and cosmetic procedures.
