Residents in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, can get free face-to-face help with neurodiversity at a special drop-in session at Swadlincote Library on January 29, 2026. The event is run by the Autism Information and Advice service and is open to anyone with autism, as well as their families and carers.
The session will run from 10:00 to 16:00 and does not require an appointment. Specialist advisors from Citizens Advice Mid Mercia will be on hand to answer questions about local services, help with assessment paperwork, and offer practical tips for daily life.
This initiative is part of a wider effort by Joined Up Care Derbyshire to provide better support for people of all ages. By holding sessions in community spots like the library, organisers hope to make it easier for people to get the help they need without having to wait for a formal doctor’s appointment.
The event also highlights the library’s role as a local community hub following changes made by the Derbyshire County Council to prioritise public services. Local support groups, such as the Swadlincote Aspergers Society, have previously welcomed these efforts to increase awareness and acceptance in the area.
