Police are investigating two attempted burglaries that occurred in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, on the morning of February 21, 2026. Officers from Derbyshire Police issued the alerts after security cameras showed individuals trying door handles on both houses and cars during daylight hours.
The first incident took place on Queens Drive between 08:52 and 10:27, where a suspect was filmed trying the handles of a vehicle and a front door. A second attempt happened on Oldfield Drive between 09:00 and 09:10, where a person tried to open a front door to gain entry to the property.
These reports follow a series of seven similar incidents earlier in February 2026 in other parts of the town, including Church Street and Old Railway Mews. Local officer PC Georgia Hastie and the police team that investigates local thefts are treating these reports as a priority to help keep the community safe.
Residents are being asked to check their doorbell cameras, dashcams, and home security systems for any suspicious activity from that morning. Anyone with information or footage is encouraged to contact the police or report details through the Neighbourhood Alert system.
