Residents in Swadlincote can look forward to a week of largely sunny weather, though the Met Office warns that heavy rain and strong winds will impact the area at times.

According to the latest forecast, the week will be dominated by sunny conditions with temperatures reaching as high as 21°C on Friday 1 May. While the period is generally dry and warm, those with outdoor plans for Monday 27 April should be prepared for heavy rain, with a 90% of downpours expected between 6pm and 8pm.

Midweek brings more challenging conditions, as strong wind gusts are expected on Wednesday 29 April and Thursday 30 April. Gusts could reach 36mph on Wednesday afternoon and 32mph on Thursday, so residents may want to secure any loose items in their gardens or outdoor spaces.

Those who suffer from hay fever should note that pollen levels will be high for much of the week, including Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Although the current weather is settled, the national weather service indicates that conditions may become more changeable after 1 May, with an increased risk of showers and further strong winds as the region enters early May.

This week’s mild weather follows a period of record-breaking sunshine for the United Kingdom. Data from the Met Office shows that April 2025 was the sunniest on record since 1910, with significantly more sunshine hours than the long-term average.
