The Met Office has forecast a band of sleet and heavy snow to move across Swadlincote, Derbyshire, early on Sunday, February 15, 2026, which is expected to create hazardous travel conditions. There is an 80 percent chance of heavy snow falling at 7:00 am, with sleet showers likely to start as early as 1:00 am.

Strong wind gusts of up to 31mph are expected to peak during the early hours of the morning. While air temperatures will hover around 2°C, the wind chill will make it feel like -4°C on the ground.

Drivers using major routes such as the A511 and A444 will see gritting teams from Derbyshire County Council at work. However, information from South Derbyshire District Council indicates that residential pavements and side streets are often left untreated.

Residents should allow extra time for any travel on Sunday morning and be careful on surfaces that may be slippery. The wintry weather follows a previous ice warning that was in place for the town through Saturday morning.
