Engineers from Wales & West Utilities have finished emergency repairs to restore gas supplies for residents in West Swindon, Wiltshire, following damage to an underground pipe. The disruption, which took place between 17 March and 18 March 2026, left several households without gas for heating and cooking.

The gas company confirmed that the outage was caused by third-party damage to their local infrastructure. This term is used to describe situations where an outside contractor or another entity accidentally strikes a gas main while carrying out independent work in the area.

Repair teams were sent to the site on 17 March 2026 to begin the process of fixing the broken main and making the area safe. Engineers worked throughout the following day to finish the restoration for all affected homes in the community.

The company provided regular updates to people living in the area to help coordinate the return of their gas service. The situation is now fully resolved and the network is operating normally again.
