The Swindon Food Collective has launched a new campaign in Swindon to help raise funds for its food bank services by asking residents to donate unwanted birthday and Christmas gifts. The charity plans to use these items as prizes for raffles and tombolas, with every penny raised going directly toward supporting families in need.
The appeal is being led by Debbie Edwards, the charity’s brand ambassador and events manager. She notes that even small gifts can make a significant difference in helping the organisation keep its doors open and continue providing essential supplies to the local community.
This initiative comes as the charity deals with a substantial rise in demand for its services. Currently, the collective feeds nearly 11,000 people each year, a 111% increase since 2019. In 2025 alone, the organisation distributed more than 90,000 meals through 11 distribution centres across the region. With the charity currently giving out 50% more stock than it receives through food donations, organisers say this new fundraising effort is vital to maintaining operations.
Residents who would like to contribute items can contact the charity by emailing [email protected] or by dropping off gifts at the warehouse located at Bentham Close, Stonehill Green, Westlea, during their regular opening hours.
