Residents in Swindon are set for a shift to warmer weather this week as temperatures climb to a peak of 27°C by the weekend. According to the Met Office, the rise in temperature from 18°C today follows a period of cooler conditions, with the mercury expected to remain high through the upcoming Bank Holiday.

While the week is expected to be largely warm and settled, the Met Office warns of some changes towards the end of the week. Deputy Chief Forecaster Tony Wisson noted that while the warmth will persist, conditions will turn more unsettled later Friday and into Saturday, bringing a mix of cloud, showers, and the possibility of thundery rain in some areas. Despite this, the risk of rain in Swindon is expected to remain below 5% from Thursday through next Tuesday.

The South West England regional forecast indicates that the Bank Holiday weekend will be very warm with plenty of sunshine and light winds, although the risk of heavy, thundery showers remains for Saturday. Those planning to spend time outdoors should take note that UV levels will be high during midday hours, and the official advice is to seek shade, cover up, and apply sunscreen.

Allergy sufferers may also need to plan ahead, as pollen levels are expected to rise to moderate on Friday and high on Saturday before returning to a low level on Sunday. Wind conditions will also change, with gusts decreasing from a peak of 33mph today to between 16-25mph from Thursday onwards as high pressure begins to dominate the area.
