The Met Office has updated the local forecast for Swindon, Wiltshire, to show rain clearing on Thursday, February 19, 2026, marking the start of a transition to much milder weather over the coming weekend. This shift brings a reprieve from the freezing temperatures and wintry hazards that gripped the region earlier in the week.

Daytime temperatures are predicted to reach 13°C on Saturday and 12°C on Sunday, which is significantly higher than the usual February average of 8°C. The warmer air follows a period of heavy rain and wintry conditions, including earlier warnings for snow and ice across central and southern England.

According to the Met Office, the shift is caused by a milder Atlantic flow replacing the cold Arctic air. Despite the rise in temperature, the weekend outlook remains unsettled with a 60-70 per cent chance of rain at times and wind gusts reaching 31mph.

The Environment Agency currently has flood warnings in place across parts of England following the recent heavy rainfall. Residents planning outdoor activities or travel are encouraged to check short-term updates, as the wind and rain may still cause some disruption throughout the weekend.
