A new community carnival featuring a parade and live performances will take place in Telford, Shropshire, on Sunday, 30 August 2026. Visit Telford (the tourism arm of Telford & Wrekin Council) is organising the event as part of the annual Balloon Fiesta to showcase local talent.

The carnival will run from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the QEII Arena and the Southwater area of Telford Town Park. Families can watch a festival parade and dance performances or take part in creative drop-in workshops at no cost. This community-focused day aims to involve local dance schools and volunteers in the wider festival weekend.

According to a Telford & Wrekin Council newsroom post published on 10 September 2025, more than 50,000 people attended the balloon festival in 2025. Organisers say they are adding the carnival to the Sunday programme to give Shropshire-based musicians and performers a chance to perform on what they describe as the region’s largest stage. The event is designed to help keep visitor numbers high throughout the August Bank Holiday weekend.

While Telford and Wrekin Leisure Services has recently updated pricing for some activities, the carnival events remain free for all visitors. This ensures that residents can enjoy high-quality entertainment without paying an entry fee. Local businesses in Southwater also expect more visitors as the parade moves through the shopping and dining district.
