The Mayor of Wellington, Councillor Reg Snell, will welcome international guests from Châtenay-Malabry, France, to the town on 2 May 2026 for a special twinning celebration.

The visit, which runs from 30 April to 3 May 2026, marks more than 25 years of friendship between the two communities. The relationship was formalised in April 2001 when the mayors of both towns signed an official twinning charter.

The event is being organised by Wellington Town Council, which recently saw a change in leadership following the retirement of long-serving Town Clerk Karen Roper. Alison Hinks, who brings 18 years of local government experience, stepped into the role on 8 April 2026.

The Wellington and District Twinning Association, led by Chair Mrs Laurence Moses, continues to facilitate these annual exchanges. The group supports various cultural, sporting, and school links between the two towns. Residents interested in participating in the association can join for an annual membership fee of £25.
