Patients and visitors at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford now have access to expanded online resources designed to make planning journeys to the site easier. The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) has updated its website with comprehensive travel guidance covering public transport, driving routes, and active travel options.

The updated resources provide detailed information on bus and rail connections for those travelling to the hospital. For those travelling by train, both Wellington and Telford Central stations are within a short drive of the hospital, with taxi services available at both locations.

In addition to standard bus and rail options, Telford & Wrekin Council has integrated hospital trips into its on-demand transport service. This expansion began in May 2025 to improve accessibility for residents. Furthermore, a new bus service linking Whitchurch, Market Drayton, and Wellington to the hospital has been operational since January 2025.

For visitors choosing to cycle or walk, the hospital has improved its on-site facilities. The grounds feature Sheffield-style cycle stands and two covered bicycle shelters, situated near the main entrance and opposite the Women and Children’s centre. Dedicated cycling routes, including the Silkin Way, provide paths directly to the hospital site.

These travel improvements follow significant organisational changes for the hospital trust. As of 1 April 2026, the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has formed a new group structure with the Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust. This follows the hospital’s exit from NHS special measures in March 2026.
