Train passengers in Telford are being advised to check their travel plans as West Midlands Railway prepares to introduce new timetables on Sunday 17 May 2026. The changes will affect departure times and services across the region, including at stations serving Telford.

The updated schedule will feature an additional hourly service running between Birmingham and Shrewsbury from Monday to Saturday. This service is intended to provide faster journeys for passengers and will call at Shifnal, Telford Central, and Wellington between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury. The current national railway timetable period concludes on Saturday 16 May 2026, with the new arrangements remaining in place until 12 December 2026.

Telford MP Shaun Davies has been involved in ongoing discussions with industry leaders, including Network Rail and the Rail Minister, to address concerns that existing rail links have not kept pace with the town’s growth. In addition to the upcoming timetable adjustments, a proposal for a new direct service from Telford to London, put forward by Wrexham, Shropshire and Midlands Railway, is currently under review by the Office of Rail and Road.

Passengers are encouraged to verify their specific journey times before travelling by using online journey planners or the National Rail website to ensure they are aware of any adjustments to their usual commute or travel plans.
