Residents in Telford should prepare for a wet and blustery weekend as heavy rain is expected to move across the region this Saturday, 11 April.

According to the Met Office, there is a 90% chance of rain at 6am on Saturday morning. While the heaviest rain is expected to clear by the afternoon, it will be replaced by lighter showers, some of which could be heavy and accompanied by hail or a risk of thunder.

Conditions will feel notably cold throughout the day on Saturday. Despite temperatures reaching 11°C, wind gusts of up to 38mph will make it feel closer to 6°C. Those heading outdoors over the weekend should also be aware that pollen levels are expected to remain at a moderate level.

While some river levels in the area remain elevated, the Environment Agency has confirmed there are currently no flood warnings or alerts in force for Shropshire.

More settled and milder weather is set to return early next week. Forecasts indicate that by Tuesday, 14 April, conditions will improve with sunny intervals and temperatures climbing to between 15°C and 16°C.
