The annual Scarecrow Trail will return to Thorpe St Andrew on Saturday, 23 May 2026, launching at Roxley Hall on Yarmouth Road to bring the community together and raise money for a local school.

The event, which runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, will feature free children’s crafts alongside various scarecrow displays. Organised by a group of four mothers—Clare, Lisa, Emma and Hannah—whose children attend Hillside Avenue Primary and Nursery School, the trail aims to showcase the neighbourhood and build community spirit. The initiative supports the Friends of Hillside charity, which provides funding for school equipment and activities not covered by standard budgets.

The Scarecrow Trail began in 2024 and has become a popular local fixture. During the 2025 event, more than 80 scarecrows were displayed throughout the area, with participation from the local Parish Church, dance schools, football clubs, and the Brownies. Thorpe St Andrew county councillor Ian Mackie has previously highlighted the event for its success in fostering local connections while generating vital funds for the school.

Roxley Hall, which serves as the launch venue, is owned and managed by the Thorpe St Andrew Town Council. In previous years, trail maps have been available for purchase at the River Green Pantry on Yarmouth Road and the Little Park Cafe at the Thorpe Recreation Ground.
