Residents in Thorpe St Andrew, Norfolk, are preparing for strong winds and potential travel disruption as the Met Office forecasts gusts of up to 47 mph on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

This change in weather follows a calmer period earlier in the week, with wind gusts expected to jump from 29 mph on Wednesday to the 47 mph peak by Thursday afternoon. The shift marks a significant move away from the milder conditions seen in the area over the last few days.

While the day may start with some sunshine, conditions are expected to turn wetter by the evening, with a 40 per cent chance of rain forecast for 9pm. These blustery and wet conditions are common for the region during the transition into spring.

The weather service suggests that these gusty conditions could cause issues for people with loose items in their gardens or lead to delays for those travelling in the local area. People living in the town are advised to take precautions with outdoor property as the wind gets stronger through the day.
