Guided walking tours exploring the life of famous author Agatha Christie are set to return to Torquay, Devon, scheduled to start from 15 February 2026 (subject to availability). These tours will give local residents and visitors a chance to see the sights that inspired some of the world’s most famous detective stories just in time for the busy Easter holiday season.
The tour, known as The Story of Agatha Christie’s Extraordinary Life, is run by English Riviera Walking Tours and led by local guide Graham Ring. Each walk lasts about two and a half to three hours and begins outside the English Riviera Visitor Information Centre on Vaughan Parade.
Visitors will walk along the seafront to see important local landmarks like the Princess Pier and the Pavilion. The tour also stops at the Grand Hotel, where the author spent her honeymoon in 1914, and shares stories about her time working in a hospital dispensary (as an apothecaries’ assistant) in Torquay, where she acquired knowledge of medicines and poisons that later informed her books.
These outdoor walks are meant to be an affordable activity for families visiting the coast during the spring break. The 2026 season also includes a special event on 11 April 2026 — the International Agatha Christie Festival’s Spring Gathering at the Torquay Museum.
