Former Everton and Wales goalkeeper Neville Southall will return to Plainmoor in Torquay, Devon, for an “An Evening With” event on Friday 6 March 2026, the club has announced. The official Torquay United event page confirms Southall will appear at Plainmoor that evening.
Torquay United says the event will include a two-course meal followed by a question-and-answer session with Southall in the club’s hospitality area. Tickets for the evening are available via the club; the event page lists general ticket prices (£65 for individual tickets, group bookings of 10 for £600) and hospitality contact details.
The Reporter’s Brief for the event indicates the evening is a fundraiser intended to support the Torquay United Community Sports Trust and the club’s youth academy; organisers and the club should be asked to confirm the beneficiaries and any auction or VIP/meet-and-greet packages before publication. The Research Dossier also lists a charity auction and tiered VIP packages (including a private reception) as part of the programme.
Southall — an Everton and Wales goalkeeping legend who made around 750 appearances for Everton across all competitions (578 in league competition) — spent a memorable spell with Torquay United as a player between 1998 and 2000, making 61 appearances and being named Torquay’s Player of the Season. He later had a short managerial spell at Dover Athletic in late 2001.
The Bryn Consortium completed a takeover of Torquay United in 2024 after the club entered administration earlier that year; the consortium is made up of local businesspeople including Michael Westcott. The takeover and the club’s ongoing community work provide the context for the fundraising event.
Supporters interested in attending can find full ticketing information and purchase details on Torquay United’s official website.
