Residents in Walton-on-Thames are invited to a free screening of the documentary People’s Emergency Briefing at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre on Wednesday 20 May 2026. The event, which runs from 7:30pm to 9:00pm, aims to bring scientific evidence regarding the climate and nature crisis to the community, with doors and the bar opening at 7pm.

The 45-minute film features contributions from broadcaster Chris Packham, investor Deborah Meaden, and entertainer Jennifer Saunders. They join nine leading UK scientists to present evidence originally shared during a National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster in November 2025. That initial event saw experts present findings to over 1,200 leaders and politicians.

Organised by Green Elmbridge Community, the screening will conclude with a discussion regarding local action. Invitations have been extended to the local Member of Parliament, Monica Harding, as well as candidates from the recently completed local elections. Given the timing of the polls held on 7 May 2026, the event offers a forum for residents to engage with representatives on environmental matters.

Admission is free, though booking is required. The venue is a long-standing community space that has operated in Walton-on-Thames since 1989.
