A new community mural depicting a river scene has been completed in Walton-on-Thames, offering a fresh splash of colour to the town centre. The artwork, which was shared with the public on 2 April 2026, is located on the wall of the Walton Library facing Hepworth Way.

The project was commissioned by Surrey County Council and brought to life by artist Nathan Evans. Inspired by the local area, the mural is designed to celebrate the town’s history and heritage, serving as a vibrant new landmark for both residents and visitors.

This initiative marks the realisation of a long-held goal for Love Walton, the local business improvement district. The organisation, which acts as a not-for-profit group funded by more than 238 businesses in the town centre, worked in collaboration with Elmbridge Borough Council to ensure the final design reflected the views of the community collected during a recent engagement process.

The finished piece has already received a warm welcome, with the organisation describing it in their April 2026 Local Lowdown publication as a fantastic addition to the town. Since its start in March 2021, the business group has invested over £700,000 into local projects aimed at making the area a more welcoming and vibrant place to live and work.
