Storm Chandra is forecast to bring heavy rain and strong winds to Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, on Tuesday, 27 January 2026. The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for rain and wind, with gusts of around 45–55 mph expected. This follows a period of sustained winter rainfall that has left the ground saturated and river levels high.

Officials are closely monitoring the River Thames at Walton. The Environment Agency’s area page (checked 12:31pm on 27 January 2026) shows there are currently no flood warnings for the area but a wider flood alert is in place; river levels at the Walton gauging station are being closely monitored and are reported to be nearing the threshold for a flood warning. Residents should expect possible flooding of low-lying land and roads such as Walton Lane near the bridge, and because the ground is saturated any extra rain could cause rapid surface-water flooding on local streets. Journalists should verify the real-time gauge before publication.

Travel may be disrupted for commuters using South Western Railway (SWR) services to London Waterloo on Tuesday morning. High winds increase the risk of fallen branches and debris on the track, which can lead to delays or cancellations; SWR and other operators typically undertake safety inspections during high-wind events. Drivers are also advised to take care for debris on the roads, particularly in tree-lined parts of town, while local highways teams respond to any fallen trees or blockages.

Storm Chandra is the third named storm of the 2025/26 season (following Amy and Bram) and is expected to ease by Tuesday afternoon; the Met Office’s Yellow Warning is in force until about 12:00pm. Residents are encouraged to monitor Environment Agency flood maps and updates and to allow extra time for any journeys during the day.
