Warrington Borough Council has opened a new Talking Point in Orford, providing locals with a place to get advice on housing, money worries, loneliness, and more. The drop-in sessions start on Thursday, April 2, at the Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub.
The Orford Talking Point will run every Thursday from 10am to 12pm at the Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub on Jubilee Way, WA2 8HE. Residents can drop in for free to speak with advisors about issues like cost of living, benefits, housing advice, and employment support. The sessions are also open to those who need help with transport, carer support, or simply want to connect with others to tackle loneliness.
This is the 11th Talking Point to launch across Warrington, with the first set up in Birchwood back in 2022. The scheme is run in partnership with local voluntary organisations, health services, and social care providers, bringing together a range of support under one roof. Previously funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the programme is now supported by the Department of Health and Social Care’s Public Health Grant.
Cllr Maureen McLaughlin, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member for health, wellbeing, and adult social care, said: ‘We understand that it can be difficult to know where to turn when you or someone you know might need further help or support. Talking Points offer a safe and welcoming first step, where residents can get clear information, friendly advice and support from a wide range of community partners.’
The launch of the Orford Talking Point aligns with the council’s broader strategy to strengthen community connections and make support more accessible at a neighbourhood level. Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub, which opened in 2012 as part of a multi-million pound regeneration project, is already a hub for local activities and services. The new Talking Point adds to the support available in the area, complementing other facilities like the Orford Community Hub on Festival Avenue.
For those who need help or know someone who does, the Orford Talking Point is ready to offer a listening ear and practical support every Thursday morning. More details are available on the Living Well Warrington website.
