On Tuesday, 24 February 2026, officers from Cheshire Constabulary arrested 33-year-old Ryan Lake in Glasgow after he spent several months evading police in Warrington, Cheshire. Officers travelled more than 200 miles to find Lake at a new address and took him into custody before 8:00 am.

Lake was wanted for failing to attend Liverpool Crown Court and breaching his bail conditions regarding a fraud investigation from 2022. It is alleged that between May and June of that year, he worked with five other people to obtain £38,000 in fraudulent loans.

Police reports state that Lake had been unlawfully at large since the summer of 2025 and was making conscious efforts to avoid being caught. The successful arrest was the result of a joint operation between the local police and Police Scotland.

Chief Inspector Rob McLoughlin of the Warrington Police praised the cross-border work that led to the arrest and noted it should provide reassurance to the community. Lake has now been returned to custody in Cheshire and faces further court action for the fraud charges and his failure to appear in court.
