Warrington Borough Council is offering free meals and activities to local children during the Easter 2026 school holidays in Cheshire. The support is part of a national programme designed to help families with the cost of food and childcare while schools are closed.
Funded by the Department for Education, the holiday activity and food scheme provides children aged 5 to 16 with a healthy hot meal and a range of fun things to do during the day. This offer is mainly for families with school-age children who already receive benefits-related free school meals.
The group representing town centre businesses, known as the Warrington Business Improvement District, is also highlighting these opportunities to encourage more people to visit local shops while they are out for the day.
Families visiting the town centre during the break can also take part in other seasonal activities, such as the White Rabbit’s Easter Egg Hunt. Other themed events, like the Alice in Warrington experiences in Time Square, are also expected to draw visitors to the area.
This support arrives as the government’s current Household Support Fund is set to end on 31 March 2026. Parents who want to see what is available or check if they can take part can find more information through the Warrington Borough Council website and will go live for booking at 12pm on Friday March 13.
