Warrington Market has shared its summer and autumn events calendar, bringing makers markets, a cartoon workshop, a record fair, and stand‑up comedy to Time Square. The programme runs from this Sunday through to mid‑September and is detailed on the council’s market website.

The first Makers Market takes place on Sunday 12 July, followed by a cartoon drawing workshop on Wednesday 29 July. August brings a second Makers Market and a record fair, both landing on Sunday 9 August. Comedian Clinton Baptiste will close the season with a performance at the Cookhouse Comedy Club on Thursday 10 September. The market is home to more than 50 independent traders, which the council describes as selling “a wide range of fresh food, gifts, goods and services.”

The current building opened on 6 July 2020 as part of the £142 million Time Square development, replacing a temporary facility that had served traders from September 2017. That temporary market won the NABMA Best Small Indoor Market Award in 2019, and the permanent site went on to claim the Best Large Indoor Market category at the same awards in 2022. The building retains the historic Bridge Street facade, blending the town’s architectural heritage with modern stalls and the Cookhouse food hall, which houses 11 worldwide food outlets and two independent bars.

The market’s main trading floor is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm, while the Cookhouse extends into the evening—until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 7pm on Sundays. The events all link to the Cookhouse area, which can be separated from the main hall for evening entertainment. A documented market has existed in Warrington since a 1255 charter granted to Sir William Fitz Almeric le Boteler, the 7th Baron of Warrington, establishing a Wednesday market and an annual three‑day fair when the town’s population was no larger than 700 people.

The venue at 2 Time Square, Academy Way, WA1 2NT sits alongside a Cineworld cinema, restaurants, and a civic square, forming the core of the regeneration scheme that opened during the 2020 pandemic. Residents can find event details and exact timings on the council’s market page.
