Healthwatch Warrington has released a list of pharmacy opening hours for the Easter bank holiday weekend, running from 3 April to 6 April 2026, to help residents access essential care and avoid unnecessary trips to hospital emergency departments. With many general practice surgeries and pharmacies closed throughout the period, officials are urging the public to check local availability to ensure they have the medications they need.

The guidance highlights that only a limited number of pharmacies will be operating during the holiday. These include Well Pharmacy on Legh Street, Warrington Pharmacy on Earl Street, Rowlands Pharmacy on Thelwall Lane, as well as Padgate Pharmacy, Penketh Pharmacy, and Hood Manor Pharmacy. Residents are advised to verify specific opening times, which generally run between 10am and 4pm on the relevant days.

Health officials are directing residents toward these local services, as well as NHS 111 and urgent care centres, to help manage demand on emergency services. Currently, the emergency department at Warrington Hospital, which is now part of the newly formed North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust, is reporting wait times of over four hours. In comparison, the Runcorn Urgent Treatment Centre, which is open daily from 8am to 9pm, has recently recorded wait times of approximately one hour and 47 minutes.

For those who run out of regular repeat prescriptions when their local pharmacy or GP is unavailable, the NHS advises using the 111 service to arrange emergency supplies. This measure is intended to support patients while ensuring that emergency departments remain available for those with the most urgent medical needs.
