The Washington Area Committee of Sunderland City Council will host a public meeting on 12 March 2026 at The Millennium Centre in Washington, Tyne and Wear. This gathering is an opportunity for local people to watch how councillors decide on neighbourhood spending and community projects within the five local wards.

The meeting will take place from 18:00 to 19:30 and includes representatives from Washington Central, East, North, South, and West. Residents can attend to hear updates on local issues and see how their ward councillors vote on plans for the town centre and other community improvements.

According to the Washington Area Committee, its primary job is to listen to local concerns and approve spending from its specific budget. This allows the council to focus on the needs of the five Washington wards rather than just city-wide issues.

By attending or looking at the meeting papers, residents can learn more about how money is allocated to local services and infrastructure. It also provides a forum for people to raise questions about things like road repairs or community facilities directly with their elected officials.
