The free live music festival, The Sound of Watford, returns to the town on Saturday 18 April 2026. Organised by The LP Cafe, the event will host a variety of musical performances across several venues, providing residents and visitors with a full day of entertainment.

The festival is held to coincide with Record Store Day, an international celebration of independent record shops. By aligning the two events, organisers aim to create a collaborative atmosphere that highlights the local music scene and supports independent businesses.

Performances will take place at multiple locations throughout the town, including the Pondside event space, the Mad Squirrel Taproom, The One Crown, the Pump House Theatre & Arts Centre, and The LP Cafe. Entry to all participating venues is free, keeping the event accessible for families and music enthusiasts alike.

The initiative receives support from Watford Borough Council and West Herts College. This reflects the council’s ongoing commitment to funding cultural activities that encourage community engagement. Building on its established presence in the town’s cultural calendar, this year’s event continues the town’s focus on promoting local and regional talent.
